All About the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Sometimes less is more, and such is proving to be the case as Mitsubishi narrows their focus onto their Outlander lineup. These sophisticated SUVs have quite a bold presence in their class, and are proving to be worth the time and attention that the Mitsubishi name is putting towards them.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in particular is proving to be a best-selling choice for small families and those looking for a versatile performance. As the smaller version of the Outlander, the 2017 Outlander Sport is more compact and thus easier to maneuver in crowded city driving or tight parking spaces, and is also exceptionally efficient at 30 mpg highway*. Even so, the Outlander Sport still gives a powerful performance.

Mitsubishi’s 2017 Outlander lineup gets updates across the board, with improvements in handling, design, and technologies. The Outlander Sport now features elegant details like LED taillights, a standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and 18-inch alloy wheels, all of which help this vehicle to both stand apart from its competitors and its earlier iterations.

Outlander Leads Mitsubishi August Sales

Mitsubishi August Sales

The Mitsubishi Outlander has had a phenomenal year.

In a recent press release, Mitsubishi Motors America unveiled its 2015 August sales numbers for public viewing, and the statistics are staggering. The company has seen its best August numbers since 2008. Mitsubishi August sales in 2015 are a significant improvement over 2014’s numbers from the same time period, boasting a 22.1% increase in overall sales.

The 2016 Outlander Sport outshone the rest, selling 3,286 units in the month of August alone. The base Outlander itself, which sold 2,188 units in August, was redesigned for the 2016 model year, with over 100 improvements made by Mitsubishi to improve the SUV’s appeal. The improvements worked, luring in enough buyers that the Outlander’s total sales jumped 92.9% from August 2014 to August of this year. The SUV saw its best August sales in 12 years.

Other vehicles in Mitsubishi’s lineup include the Mirage, which sold 1,569 units in August, and the Lancer, which sold 1,240. However, Mitsubishi August sales were definitely led by the incredible sales of the Outlander and Outlander Sport, paving the way for future success.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Evo Could Possibly Maybe Be Headed Our Way

You’ve likely heard by now that if you want to get your hands on the Mitsubishi Lancer and Lancer Evo models, you should head to Biggers Mitsubishi soon—like, really soon. Production for the models will end at the close of the year. However, according to circulating rumors, it seems the same fate will not befall the Evo badge.

The term “Evo” is short for “Evolution” and is synonymous with Mitsubishi’s brand of high performance. Seeing as the automaker is dedicating its efforts to furthering development of its SUV lineup, it only makes sense that the “Evo” designation would be reassigned to an SUV.

According to Auto Express, an auto publication based in the United Kingdom, Mitsubishi has its sights on the next-gen Outlander Sport (also known as the ASX in Europe) to wear the famed badge.

If that is the case, it still might be a little while before we see “Evo” stamped on a new model. Mitsubishi plans to take its time, introducing the next-generation model with four-wheel drive first and a two-wheel drive with plug-in hybrid technology second. Then, if Mitsu’s leadership chooses to adopt the “Evo” name and characteristics for the model, it “isn’t a huge jump.”

Of course we’ll have to wait and see what the automaker chooses to do, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for an Outlander Sport Evo model to come to the States relatively soon.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport among 10 Most Affordable SUVs

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has once again made headlines, this time for being named one of the 10 Most Affordable SUVs on the market, according to the experts at Kelley Blue Book (KBB).

The popular model provides owners with a variety of standard and available features as well as reliable performance, all for a very affordable price. However, the Outlander Sport’s exceptional value doesn’t end there. KBB also takes into account the estimated cost of owning the SUV over a five-year period.

Factors used to determine the expected costs of ownership include depreciation, fuel costs, insurance, financing, and maintenance and repairs.

“The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport – the brand’s best-selling vehicle – offers distinctive styling like no other vehicle in its class,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Because of its extensive list of features, safety technologies and an industry-leading warranty, the Outlander Sport has established itself as an extraordinary value for new car shoppers.”

Not only can we at Biggers Mitsubishi offer you a great value on the 2015 Outlander Sport, we are also confident that you will be able to enjoy that value for years to come.
