Baseball is America’s pastime, offering fun for both players and spectators. The history of the Cubs and White Sox is also a history of Chicago, representing the Windy City’s past. That’s why we’ve put together a post about two of the most iconic teams in the country.
The Chicago Cubs are one of the oldest teams around, according to the MLB, first starting in 1870 as part of the National Association. As a charter member of the National League, the Cubs are synonymous with Chicago history. This team was in the championship for the following years: 1906, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938, and 1945. With two wins, the Cubs are in the top 10 teams for all-time championship appearances.
The Chicago White Sox are a little younger than the Cubs, first playing in 1901. This American League team has one of the most celebrated histories in the Major League, with a truly unique past. Starting as the Sioux City Cornhuskers in the minor leagues, the White Sox (formerly “White Stockings”) had some of the most famous players, including Shoeless Joe Jackson and Lefty Williams. From 1918 to 1920 there were rumors of illegal gambling, and several players were banned from the sport for life, a period referred to as the Black Sox Scandal.
The White Sox appeared in the championship in 1906, 1917, 1919, 1959, and 2005. Chicago baseball fans will recognize that in 1906 the White Sox and Cubs saw each other at the championship, one of the only instances of interleague play for nearly a century. Now, the Crosstown Classic is an exciting series of games that showcases two of the greatest teams in the league.
Most large cities only have one baseball team to root for. Here in Chicago, we have two: the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. Both of these teams face a number of different team on the field during the baseball season. However, sometimes the two teams face off against each other. In fact, that is precisely what happened during the biggest games in baseball 110 years ago.
In 1906, the World Championship came down to the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. In one of the biggest upsets in baseball history, the Chicago White Sox won the championship over the Cubs. The White Sox went on to win championships in 1917 and 2005, while the Cubs came out on top during 1907 and 1908.
For over a century, fans of both teams have been eagerly waiting for a rematch. So what are the chances of a Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs World Championship this year? Follow the career of both teams this season to find out! And be sure to book your tickets for the series that begins July 25th at U.S. Cellular Field!
The city of Chicago is great during any time of the year. However, Chicago is at it loveliest during the months of summer. Likewise, there is no better time to drive a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander than during the summer. So what better way to celebrate the summer than by exploring Chicago in your Outlander? Here are great Chicago places to drive to in the Mitsubishi Outlander this summer.
The Navy Pier
The Navy Pier is more than just a lovely place to take a stroll. It is also lined with fantastic attractions, which are made even better during the summer.
While on the subject of the lakeside, one of the best ways to use your Mitsubishi Outlander in Chicago is by taking a relaxing drive along the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago.
The Lincoln Park Zoo
When the weather is nice during the summer, be sure to make the drive down to one of Chicago’s wildest and most popular attractions: the Lincoln Park Zoo. There you will encounter some truly amazing animals.
Incomplete attention when driving is a dangerous road to go down.
It’s the day and age where we basically can’t let go of our phone. But we have to let go of it when we’re driving and here’s why: texting and driving is one of the most dangerous things you can do.
Motor vehicle crashes can come unexpectedly, but if you’re texting, there’s a much higher chance of it happening to you. You’re four times more likely to crash if you’re texting. In 2015, 1 in 4 of all car crashes involved a cell phone. Unfortunately, that’s not the most tragic statistic there is.
Every day, nine drivers die because of texting while driving, and in 2013, texting caused 341,000 motor vehicle crashes. Forty percent of teens say that they have been a passenger in a car when a cellphone was used in a way that put them in danger.
A reported 33% of US drivers from ages 18 to 64 admitted reading or composing text messages while driving. To compare, only 15% of drivers from Spain reported that they texted while driving.
It’s a US epidemic that we need to squash before it grows any more. Make a vow to yourself now that you will never text and drive again. It can wait.
The day has come: the new Mirage has finally been revealed. The 2017 Mirage G4 will serve as a sedan sibling to the popular Mirage hatchback.
This Mirage sedan will bring a fresh dose of style and environmental consciousness to the Mitsubishi lineup. The G4 will have the same powertrain of the 2017 hatchback, a revised 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. It will be at the top of its class in combined fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. The G4’s long wheelbase makes for a spacious interior cabin and trunk.
Tech elements make the new Mirage G4 a standout, too. It will be equipped with available smartphone integrations and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you’ll get features usually reserved for higher-priced vehicles in your affordable Mitsubishi.
With the new Mirage, you’ll get everything the hatchback offered with the benefits of a four-door sedan. “The Mirage hatchback and now the Mirage G4 sedan will form a formidable one-two punch in the subcompact segment,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president of MMNA.
Keep an eye out for the 2017 Mirage G4’s release to check it out for yourself.
Biggers Mitsubishi is proud to serve the community of Elgin, Illinois. We appreciate all that the city has to offer, especially the Hawthorne Hill Nature Center.
The park began in 1938, as Camp Hawthorne Hills. This camp served the Elgin Girl Scouts for 34 years. In 1977, the City of Elgin purchased the camp and 45 acres west of Brookside Drive. The goal was to preserve the area for future generations. Hawthorne Hill Nature Center opened to the public in 2005 and has been a popular place for locals and visitors ever since.
The Hawthorne Hill Nature Center is the perfect place to learn about nature. The center provides year-round opportunities to explore the natural landscape. When you visit, you can hike one of the many trails or explore the interactive nature center.
There is also a wheelchair-accessible trail leading to a pond and meadow to allow everyone to enjoy the outdoors without limitations. Families and individuals can explore the 67-acre nature area, or take part in one of the many available programs.
We at Biggers Mitsubishi encourage everyone to take the time to learn about nature and appreciate the diversity in ecology and humanity shown through the Hawthorne Hill Nature Center.

The Mitsubishi Mirage continues to stand out as the vehicle to buy for non-luxury sub-compact vehicle customers.
The Mitsubishi Mirage has once again been recognized by IHS Automotive for having the highest model loyalty among Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact vehicles. This is the second time in a row the Mirage has earned the award, proving that great things do come in small packages.
IHS Automotive measures model loyalty based on how many households who own a new vehicle return to the market to purchase or lease another new vehicle of the same make and/or model. The fact that people keep coming back to the Mirage is a testament to the vehicle’s quality and to its ability to live up to expectations.
“Mirage offers an unmatched package of segment-leading fuel economy, attractive pricing and an industry leading new
vehicle and powertrain warranty,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president at Mitsubishi North America. “Our faithful owners understand and appreciate the Mitsubishi Mirage.”
Later this year, the 2017 Mirage will arrive at Biggers Mitsubishi with a refreshed exterior design, better performance, and new technology. We don’t expect that IHS Automotive Model Loyalty award to go anywhere, that’s for sure!
