At the 87th Geneva International Motor Show, to be held March 7th through 19th in Geneva, Switzerland, Mitsubishi has plans to unveil a brand new addition to its lineup. This new Mitsubishi SUV will join the Outlander Sport, Outlander, and Outlander PHEV SUV models currently sold by Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi has announced that the new vehicle will be a compact model that will have sharp styling characteristics. These will include a wedge-shaped belt line, a steeply raked rear window, a long wheelbase, and a strong character line running along the side. Together these features will give the new SUV a sort of coupe design with an active, athletic feel.
We got a glimpse of this design through a shadowy teaser image Mitsubishi previously released. But Mitsubishi didn’t announce where the new model would sit in the lineup. However, many in the industry suspect it will come in below the Outlander Sport to compete with models like the Chevrolet Trax and Honda HR-V.
As for its name, Mitsubishi hasn’t announced that either. Autoblog suspects it could wear the Eclipse name, which was last seen on the sporty compact car in 2012.
Here at Biggers Mitsubishi, we are excited to see a new model coming to the Mitsubishi lineup! We can’t wait to learn even more about it when it makes its debut next month.
Announcing the fifth generation Mitsubishi L200 revealed to the automotive world at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show in early March. Guaranteeing quality upgrades and refinements, the company still assures its “functionality and reliability as a work vehicle.”
The European pickup, which has been a presence in its market for almost a decade, asserts a redesigned front and rear fascia, a more spacious interior, and higher-quality materials. The truck features improved body mounting and a retuned suspension, which partner to reduce noise vibrations of its Super Select 4WD-II drivetrain. The L200 is available with either two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive, and a potential hybrid option could become available to consumers in the near future. The updated mini-truck also includes a Trailer Stability Assist and Lane Departure Warning for added safety features.
While the L200 is unfortunately not yet released to the North American market, it remains a beacon to the company’s ingenuity while its creature comforts cross over to the US market. So be sure to come visit Biggers Mitsubishi to drive the company’s innovative and top rated IIHS vehicles today.
Mitsubishi made quite a stir during the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. With new models such as the XR-PHEV II and the L200, Mitsubishi dominated the event. Showcasing the latest in fuel-efficient technology and off-road design, both models are sure to be a success.
According to Mitsubishi, the XR-PHEV II has been in the works since 2013, allowing engineers to fine-tune the plug-in hybrid technology. The Mitsubishi XR-PHEV II Concept is a small SUV/Crossover that features a lightweight and compact body and very low emissions. It also features Battery Save, Battery Charge, and All-Electric modes giving drivers a variety of choices.
The L200 is an all-new pickup, initially launched in Thailand. This new sport utility truck has been a smash hit, perfect for functionality and reliability. Unfortunately, the L200 is only being offered in Europe and parts of Asia at the moment, but depending on its success, it may make its way to the US sooner or later.
Both of these models represent the future of Mitsubishi, emphasizing eco-friendly design. The XR-PHEV is an SUV and the L200 is a pickup, two segments associated with bad fuel economy and harmful emissions—something Mitsubishi is looking to change.
