We might soon be seeing an SUV on American roads again that hasn’t been seen here since 2006. The Mitsubishi Montero Sport was a good-looking, robust, and accommodating SUV back then. It looks like it’s going to be even better this time around.
As Automotive News reports, the Montero Sport is “built on the frame from the L200 pickup.” The L200 pickup truck isn’t sold in the States, but it’s extremely popular overseas. Basing the Montero Sport on a truck gives it better response and handling in places where the road conditions can be rough, Automotive News says.
The third-generation Mitsubishi Montero Sport debut will occur at the Bangkok Auto Show on August 1st. Makes sense since the SUV will likely be manufactured in Thailand. From there, Mitsubishi will export it around the world.
Will it make to the United States and if so, when? The Montero Sport might not make it to United States “anytime soon”, says Automotive News.
