Mitsubishi saw a notable increase in sales over the course of 2015, up 22% from 2014. Its year total of 95,342 is its highest since 2008, and December’s sales were 7,887, which continued Mitsubishi’s 22-month streak of year-over-year sales increases.
Executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North American Don Swearingen says Mitsubishi is “poised to repeat our success in 2016” thanks to their narrowed focus on the SUV and crossover market with the introduction of the new Outlander.
Mitsubishi also plans to release plug-in electric hybrid versions of the Outlander and Outlander Sport, as well as a small crossover to fill the space between the Outlander and the compact Sport. The Outlander and Outlander Sport are the best-selling crossovers in their segments, with sales jumping 37.4% in 2015.
Additionally, Mitsubishi plans to release the Mirage G4 for the 2017 model year, a small sedan, and recently showed concepts for off-road vehicles at the Tokyo Auto Show.
