Here in the United States, we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. This all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid crossover is one of only a few of its kind, and it represents the future of Mitsubishi.
According to Mitsubishi, the Outlander PHEV should begin arriving at dealerships in February or March — just in time for spring driving. This model has already been on sale in Europe for a few years now and is one of the most popular hybrid models there.
When it goes on sale, Mitsubishi has said we should expect to see around a 22-mile all-electric driving range. This should be long enough to cover some drivers’ daily commutes, meaning they won’t have to use the gasoline engine very much. In addition, it will be one of the few hybrids available that come with all-wheel drive.
As the popularity of hybrids and electric cars continue to grow, it is clear that this is what the world, and Americans, want to drive. We want to be able to drive past the gas station and rely more on alternative fuel sources.

Last month, Mitsubishi revealed its brand new Outlander SUV at the New York International Auto Show. The updated front-end, modern driving specifications, and the new CVT automatic gearbox were all on display.
The automaker delivered on its promise to improve upon the Outlander’s interior as well, which now features more contemporary, elegant styling to match its futuristic tech specs and functionality.
The overall styling of the 2016 Outlander is based on the same “Dynamic Shield” idea that was behind Mitsubishi’s XR PHEV II concept present at the Geneva Motor Show. Many new Mitsubishi models are getting this treatment, with new bumpers and grilles, alongside halogen headlights to match.

Could the Mitsubishi Outlander lineup be adding a plug-in vehicle in the US?
The Paris Motor Show just got underway, after weeks and weeks of anticipation. The reveal we’re most excited for at Biggers Mitsubishi is that of the Outlander plug-in, which has already been rumored to come to the United States next fall as a 2016 model.
The Outlander PHEV is expected to stand out with massively improved styling and material quality, which Mitsubishi claims will fit within a new “Sporty and Sophisticated” design theme.
From what we know of its appearance already, the new PHEV has hit the mark. An updated horizontal grille leads to reshaped headlights, on top of a better integrated air dam in sexy black and chrome accents. The overall result is a much sleeker, attractive look that’ll have people turning heads at the Motor Show and, we suspect, in the streets next year.
Inside, Mitsubishi says passengers will find black wood grain trim and silver accents throughout the cabin, hand-stitched leather seats, and a new center console inspired by Japanese black lacquer boxes.
